In the spirit of camera deprivation at home, a blurb about Korean photographer, Hasisi Park. She takes pictures I wish I’d taken. A refreshing break from today’s plethora of digital, and even, lomo photographs, like coffee beans for your nose, or sorbet for your tongue, her work is a cleanser of sorts for the visual palate. You can view her photos here and here.
From what I recall, apart from photographer, Hasisi is a model, a filmmaker and, until recently, a lover. I discovered her Flickr account when her relationship with British photographer, Jackson Eaton was a madly recurrent theme in both parties’ works. Nouveau pornographers as they were, their photographs were often unreserved, exposing the way one loses all sense of propriety in the grips of infatuation. However, it is not so much the glimpse of privates or the appearance of the occasional hickey that make you bookmark their pages. There is, or at least, there was, a story unfolding, a love story, and as a sucker for a wild as much as it is real romance, you end up visiting and revisiting their pages like a fucking stalker.Admittedly, their break up came as hard news as if Hasisi and Jackson were dear friends. Minimal activity on their pages ensued, but only for a while. Soon, they both carried on with their separate careers, producing photographs of the same quality as before, pre-break up, although not as moving in my humble opinion. Hasisi’s new photos stand alone better, for me, as they are more bizarre and varied in theme. I continued to follow her page, for reasons just mentioned, and because she is hot.I especially like her self-portraits, and it’s not just because I love her face. But before I reveal the other reason, that is, why I like her self-portraits, I want to take this opportunity to dive into full rave. Hasisi Park is the most beautiful thing you will ever lay your eyes on. Or, maybe not. Our standards may not agree. But, believe me when I say she is cute and sexy. At the same time! Rare! Now, before I forget, I like her self-portraits, actually, her photography in general, because she is always able to catch life whenever it is haunting. Her photos linger in your mind long after you’ve seen them. Strands of hair, a finger (or something else, who knows), and water, and breath fog. These images come back to you randomly, in the shower or while watching television, and before you know it, Hasisi has your mind in the palm of her hand.
